UNHCR works closely with the refugee community to provide support for individuals with psychiatric conditions, especially those without family assistance in Yemen.

Does UNHCR provide mental health services?

Yes, mental health services are available at health centers supported by:

  • Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Sana’a
  • Human Access (HA) in Aden and Kharaz

Available Services:

  • Psychiatrists in Sana’a and Aden
  • Psychologists in Aden
  • Services adhere to UNHCR and national standards.

What should I do if I or a family member is experiencing psychological distress?

You can seek psychosocial support from:

  • Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) in Sana’a
  • Human Access (HA) in Aden

Dedicated psychologists are available to assist you.

What should I do if my child is in psychological distress?

If your child is in psychological distress, you can access care at:

  • SDF Family Centre in Sana’a
  • HA Health Centres in Aden and Kharaz

You may also be referred to other specialized service providers if needed.

Are medications provided for psychiatric conditions?

Medications are only prescribed by a psychiatrist following an appropriate examination and when deemed necessary.
