UNHCR’s Non-Food Item (NFI) kits are a one-time assistance. However, additional items may be provided based on assessed needs and eligibility.

The beneficiary list is based on assessments of the most affected populations. If you believe you are among those most affected but have not been included, please contact the camp coordination and camp management (CCCM), the site committee, or other humanitarian actors.

My friend in another hosting site received different services. Why is this?

UNHCR and its partners provide a standard NFI and shelter package. However, some partners may offer additional items based on their available resources.

I am an IDP living in a rented home on the West Coast. Am I eligible for rental assistance?

Rental assistance and Emergency Shelter Kit (ESK) support are provided based on assessed needs, with priority given to the most vulnerable families.

Why didn’t I receive assistance, even though I’ve been on the site for a long time, while new arrivals have?

Assistance is based on vulnerability criteria, not just length of stay. New arrivals may meet these criteria or there may be limited resources available to assist everyone.

Why does it take so long to get emergency assistance during floods or fire incidents?

Emergency responses may be delayed due to the time it takes to mobilize resources and coordinate assistance in such situations.

Why haven’t I received Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) kits, cash assistance, or food while others have?

How long does the cash for rent programme last?

The cash for rent programme is typically available for six months.

I have more than 10 dependents, but I received fewer than 10 mattresses and blankets. Am I eligible for more?

The standard Non-Food Items (NFI) kit is designed for a family of seven. Families with more than seven members may be eligible for additional mattresses and blankets. Please contact the shelter partner in your location.

Why is the return kit not distributed to returnees?

Currently, there is no specific return kit for returnees. However, based on needs and available resources, shelter partners may support house repairs in return areas.

Am I eligible for a cooking stove?

Cooking stoves are included as part of renewable energy items, but providing these stoves is challenging due to limited funding.

I have experience in construction. Are there job opportunities?

Cash-for-shelter and cash-for-work opportunities are encouraged, and UNHCR supports partners in considering them when feasible. Please contact the shelter partner in your location or site for more information.

I am interested in returning to my home. Are services available to support my family and me?

Returning to your place of origin is a voluntary and informed decision. Services may be available, but it is important to seek accurate information before making this decision.
