Work and skills

UNHCR in Uganda works in collaboration with various partners, such as NGOs, the government, and businesses, to help refugees and local communities find ways to increase incomes, grow food, and develop skills that match their own priorities and goals.

We work to enhance food security, increase incomes, develop skills, and build assets in alignment with the priorities and goals of refugees and host communities.

Our activities include:

  • Supporting Agricultural/Livestock Production and Value Chains: Assistance in agriculture, animal rearing, and enhancing the production and sales process.
  • Cash Grants and Micro-Enterprise Development: Providing financial support through cash grants for meeting essential needs and facilitating the development of small businesses.
  • Promoting Self-Employment, Wage Employment, and Business Access: Encouraging entrepreneurship, facilitating job opportunities, and supporting business development.
  • Access to Financial Services and Livelihood Training: Facilitating access to both informal and formal financial services and delivering training to enhance livelihood opportunities.
