{"id":543,"date":"2018-12-14T22:01:20","date_gmt":"2018-12-14T22:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/trinidadandtobago\/?page_id=543"},"modified":"2024-01-02T16:11:56","modified_gmt":"2024-01-02T16:11:56","slug":"refugee-duties-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/trinidadandtobago\/rights-and-duties\/refugee-duties-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Refugee duties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a refugee you have the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Respect and abide by the laws of the country:<\/strong> It is your duty to respect and abide by the laws and regulations of Trinidad and Tobago and to contribute towards the maintenance of public order.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carry your identification<\/strong>: You must ensure that your UNHCR identification document is valid and that you carry it with you at ALL times.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carry the <\/strong><strong>government-issued document permitting you to remain in Trinidad and Tobago at ALL times<\/strong>: Other authorities might ask you about it and may check with the Refugee Unit of the Immigration Division to verify your status in the country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You must <\/strong><strong>inform<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/trinidadandtobago\/unhcr-and-partners\/unhcr\/\">UNHCR<\/a><\/strong> <strong>of any change of telephone number or address<\/strong>. It is of utmost importance that your details with the institutions that assist you are kept up-to-date.<\/li>\n<li><strong>As a refugee, it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not travel to your country of origin<\/strong>.
