Notice for refugees from Ivory Coast:

Notice for refugees from Ivory Coast:

Following UNHCR’s Comprehensive Solutions Strategy for Ivorian refugees, UNHCR is now offering a “return package” for refugees who wish to return to Cote d’Ivoire.

The return package includes transportation and cash for shelter, core items and food for three months, as well as costs related to documentation (please check the infographics below for more details).

The Ivorian authorities have also committed to facilitate the necessary documentation for Ivoirians who wish to return.

This package is only available until July 2022.

The return package only applies to refugees who fled the country:

  • As a result of the political crises that began with a military coup in 1999,
  • the internal conflicts from 2002 to 2012 and
  • in the lead up to the presidential and parliamentary elections of 2020 and 2021.

Please note that the declarations of cessation only apply to recognized refugees and not asylum-seekers. Ivorians with a pending asylum claim, or who are currently willing to seek asylum, have the right to have their claims processed, studied, and determined in a fair and efficient manner.

If you are interested in benefiting from the return package, or seek more information about this, please contact UNHCR by filling in this Contact Form.
