In order to support education and/or employment opportunities for the refugees, UNHCR Rwanda seeks to update the current refugee education and occupational information included in the registration database. Refugees are requested to self-update this information here.

You will need an internet connection to access the form from the link and to submit the form. Before submitting the form, make sure that all mandatory (*) fields are completed. You are requested to provide true information which will be verified at a later stage. Note that this is part of continuous registration and there is, therefore, no deadline to this process. Mastercard Foundation Programme

African Leadership University (ALU), January and May 2023 Intake

ALU is offering about 20 full-ride scholarships to refugees that are joining for the January 2023 intake for undergraduate courses. Scholarship opportunities are still available for refugees for both January and May intakes.

Deadline: 1 November 2022 (for January 2023 intake)

Required documents to submit your application:

  • National exam transcripts or A-level equivalent: This transcript must be in English or French, and clearly depict your name, the name of your school, the subjects taken, and the grades you received in each of your subjects.
    If you have not yet received your final national exam results, you can submit your secondary school transcripts, as described below.
  • Secondary School Transcripts (Grades 10, 11, 12): This transcript must be in English or French, and clearly depict your name, the name of your school, the subjects taken, and the grades you received in each of your subjects.
  • A valid identification document showing your full name AND date of birth (Submit a copy of refugee ID card)

United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa)

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa will provide full-cost scholarships to young Africans who are first-time undergraduate degree-seeking applicants. Priority shall be given to registered Refugees/Displaced youth and Persons with Disability.

Application Deadline: Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:59pm (East Africa Time)


  • Be 29 years and below at the time of application
  • Meet the minimum university entry grade of a C+ and above or its equivalent as set by the Kenya Commission for University Education. Applicants interested in courses in the school of Pharmacy and Health sciences must have a mean grade of B- or its equivalent and at least a C+ or B- in the cluster subjects of English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. International applicants must meet the equivalent.
  • Must be interested in any of the approved 13 undergraduate degree programs for the Scholars Program at USIU-Africa

  • Before filling in the application form, please read through all the instructions and required information.
  • Submit complete application together with other supporting documents required by email ensuring that the scanned copy of the scholarship application form and all the required documents are scanned in PDF format. University of Cape Town

The University of Cape Town under the Mastercard Scholars Programme has launched a call for 50 Masters and 10 honours awards to be made in this round for the February 2023 in-take.

Refugees in Rwanda can take courses on Coursera. For registration, send your name, email address and Proof of Registration number to [email protected]. You can visit Community Center near your location to check the availability of computers and the internet for your studies.
