Therefore, the Government has the responsibility to process asylum claims and to decide whether a person can be given legal protection in Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that UNHCR in Russia:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Does not register<\/strong>&nbsp;refugees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not examine<\/strong>&nbsp;asylum applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not issue<\/strong>&nbsp;refugee documents or any documents to stateless people\u2013 these issues fall under the responsibility of relevant migration authorities of Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not provide <\/strong>shelter and\/or regular financial\/humanitarian assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not assist<\/strong> individuals seeking to come to Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not assist <\/strong>individuals staying outside Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does not help<\/strong> Russian nationals to leave Russia and seek asylum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are <strong>no resettlement programs<\/strong> in Russia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>UNHCR in Russia cooperates with the Government and non-governmental organizations to improve protection of asylum-seekers, refugees and stateless people in Russia.
