About UNHCR

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) protects people forced to flee due to conflict and persecution, working with governments and partners in more than 130 countries to provide life-saving support and protect their rights. The UNHCR Multi-Country Office in Panama supports refugees and asylum seekers in nine states and territories of the Caribbean: Aruba, Belize, Cuba, Curaรงao, Guyana, Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Multi-Country Office in Panama collaborates with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, civil society, and host communities to help displaced people find safety and rebuild their lives, addressing situations of Venezuelan, Nicaraguan, and Colombian displacement in the region.

UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless persons.

In Panama, we work with the State to protect refugees and asylum seekers. We also engage with government, civil society, and the private sector to ensure that these people can fully exercise their rights.
