Coordinates humanitarian response within the different states and is in charge of durable solutions. NCFRMI is an agency withing this ministry. Their engagement is particularly important for integrating GBV and CP into humanitarian programming, linking state-level initiatives with national priorities, and advocating for durable solutions for IDPs.

NCFRMI provides overall coordination and policy guidance for IDP protection and durable solutions at the federal level. Their involvement in Benue is essential to align state efforts with national frameworks, advocate for IDP rights, and integrate GBV and CP priorities into broader government policies.

NCFRMI is a specialised agency that has the mandate to manage matters of asylum seekers, refugees, IDPS and returnees. The agency is based in the field locations and in urban areas in Nigeria, namely Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Ogoja, Benue, Makurdi, Maiduguri, Yola, Calabar, etc. Services Provided by NCFRMI Include:

Sexual and Gender-based Violence prevention

It plays an oversight role in promoting and protecting human rights within the various States in Nigeria, including monitoring violations against IDPs, refugees, women, and children. Their involvement is critical in documenting abuses, providing a platform for redress, and ensuring that human rights standards guide protection responses

The Nigeria Bar Association is UNHCR Nigeria’s main legal aid and access‑to‑justice partner, providing legal representation, individual and group legal counselling, ADR, civil documentation and support to mobile courts for IDPs, refugees, returnees and host communities across multiple states, with a strong presence in the North‑East.
