{"id":266,"date":"2023-06-23T09:17:12","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T09:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/malta\/?page_id=266"},"modified":"2023-11-24T09:12:24","modified_gmt":"2023-11-24T09:12:24","slug":"employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/malta\/living-in-malta\/employment\/","title":{"rendered":"Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jobsplus<\/a>, Malta\u2019s Public Employment Service runs the following programmes for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection who seek job opportunities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/schemes-jobseekers\/vaste\" target=\"_blank\">VASTE programme<\/a>: Focuses on services mainly for persons with disabilities, persons previously incarcerated, persons with a history of alcohol and\/or drug use disorder, and migrants, offering pre-employment training, professional services, and counselling&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Initiatives: <a href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/schemes-jobseekers\/job-bridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Job Bridge Programme<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/training-opportunities\/shelter-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sheltered Employment Training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/training-opportunities\/trade-testing-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trade Testing System\/Validation Process<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/schemes-jobseekers\/training-pays-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Training Pays Scheme<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f <strong>For a full and updated course list, please visit Jobsplus\u2019 official website <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jobsplus.gov.mt\/courses\/all-course-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beneficiaries of international protection can benefit from services offered by Jobsplus to help them integrate into the labour market. Services offered include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Guidance on employment opportunities and job matching;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CV writing and mock interviews;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job Brokerage Office (JBO) to facilitate short-term job placements;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mainstream free of charge training courses in various areas to further enhance the employability skills;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trade testing to assess individuals who have acquired knowledge, skills and competence but do not possess a formal qualification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An employment licence (also known as a work permit) is necessary for working in Malta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Application fees<\/strong>:&nbsp;<ul><li>New application fee: Payable on issue \u20ac 58&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Renewal fee: Payable on issue \u20ac 34&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Compliance with social security, income tax and employment conditions regulations must always be ensured.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any worker in Malta has the right to join a trade union.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/legislation.mt\/eli\/cap\/452\/20210101\/eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employment and Industrial Relations Act<\/a> applies to all foreign nationals engaged in employment in Malta.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employers should not engage foreign nationals on conditions of work, (i.e. wages\/salaries, hours of work etc) which are less favourable than those established for work of the same character or nature by national laws and regulations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any employee who believes that their rights have been violated may seek recourse at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dier.gov.mt\/en\/Pages\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department for Industrial and Employment Relations<\/a>, which is located at <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/vtRVyMLMU8g37C929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Melita Street, Valletta<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jobsplus, Malta\u2019s Public Employment Service runs the following programmes for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection who seek job opportunities: \u27a1\ufe0f For a full and updated course list, please visit Jobsplus\u2019 official website here.
