In Luxembourg, there are many organizations that assist and help asylum-seekers (international protection applicants), refugees and migrants.

On this page, you will find contact information for organisations that can provide help with your asylum (international protection) and family reunification procedures in Luxembourg.  Please note that the list of organizations mentioned is not exhaustive.

Counselling services for the asylum (international protection)/family reunification procedure

UNHCR in Luxembourg is not part of the asylum (international protection) procedure and cannot provide legal advice to individual applicants regarding, for example, asylum (international protection) or family reunification. However, several organizations offer counselling services and general support to asylum-seekers (international protection applicants) and refugees.

Ombudsman

The Ombudsman is the Mediator of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. You can contact the Ombudsman directly if you believe that a state, municipal or any other public authority did not function in line with its mission or with the usual practice, laws or regulations.

ASTI - Association de soutien aux travailleurs immigrés asbl

This organization offers free information and administrative assistance on immigration and residence matters through its service “Guichet Info Migrants”.


CLAE Services Asbl

This association platform receives and advises individuals and families who have newly arrived to help them integrate into Luxembourg society. The organization offers personalized consultations, help with administrative procedures, support for associations with immigration backgrounds, workshops on the use of digital tools and language courses. Every year, the CLAE organises the Festival des migrations, des cultures et de la citoyenneté.


Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise

This organization’s mission is to help vulnerable people live with dignity and be self-reliant. They provide multiple services aimed at supporting asylum-seekers (international protection applicants) as well as beneficiaries of temporary protection. The relevant contact details are listed below.

LISKO – Lëtzebuerger Integratioun a Sozialkohäsiouns-Zenter

The center offers information and orientation services to all beneficiaries of temporary protection, as well as social support to beneficiaries of temporary protection who have been accommodated by the Luxembourg Red Cross in host families or in private accommodation.

Restoring Family Links (RLF) service: the service helps to restore or maintain family unity and find out the fate of missing relatives for those who have lost contact with their families because of a humanitarian crisis (conflict, natural disaster, migration).


Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte (FMPO):

This organization offers protection, support and social, psychological, legal and educational assistance to people in distress.

HUT – Hëllef um Terrain Luxembourg

HUT – Hëllef um Terrain is an association whose mission is to prevent and combat all forms of human suffering, particularly insecurity, poverty, and discrimination.

A range of aid services are offered to people affected by precariousness, poverty, exclusion, and homelessness, as well as to refugees and migrants. Special attention is given to children, young people, and their families.

It offers asylum-seekers (international protection applicants), refugees, beneficiaries of temporary protection and stateless persons information on administrative procedures, as well as on many aspects related to life in Luxembourg.

Through reception, social follow-up, thematic training workshops, accommodation in centers and independent housing and help in finding a job and housing, they prepare their target audience to take their place in society.

It is preferrable to fix an appointment either by phone  (+352 26 155 350, from Monday to Friday, 9.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 – 17.00) or by email ([email protected])


Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS)

This organization’s mission is to accompany, serve and defend refugees, especially those aged between 12 and 28. They support refugees in the long term to allow for their integration.

Besides, they also assist people falling under a Dublin asylum procedure and those being held at the Findel detention center. Language courses for people who have newly arrived are also offered.

  • Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00-17.00 (hours may vary).

The organization holds consultations on Tuesdays and Thursdays 13.00 – 15.00 and on Saturdays 10.00 – 12.00. Appointment by email ([email protected]) or phone (+352 621825825) is encouraged.


Médecins du Monde

the organization undertakes actions in favor of the most disadvantaged, who do not have access to the national health system, offering them access to primary health care, through free medical and psychosocial consultations.

  • Address: 30, Dernier Sol, Bonnevoie (Luxembourg-Ville) or 3, Quartier, Esch-sur-Alzette
  • Opening hours: the center in Bonnevoie operates on Mondays and Fridays 10.00 – 12.00, on Tuesdays 15.00 – 17.00 (only for women and children) and on Wednesdays 18.00 – 20.00.

The center in Esch-sur-Alzette operates on Thursdays 10.00 – 12.00.

Appointment not necessary.


Passerell

This organization helps refugees, asylum-seekers (international protection applicants) and rejected asylum-seekers (international protection applicants) to defend and exercise their rights.

Reech eng Hand (Tends la main)

A project of the Archdiocese of Luxembourg which aims to welcome, integrate and advocate for refugees and those seeking asylum (international protection). Groups of volunteers in the parishes, associations and religious communities help them by providing language courses, socio-cultural activities and material support.


RYSE asbl - Refugee Youth Support & Empowerment

the organization supports the socio-cultural and professional integration of refugees and asylum seekers (international protection applicants) through individualized mentoring, volunteering opportunities and targeted training to facilitate access to the employment market.
