In Luxembourg, UNHCR supports the national authorities in executing its duties in line with international and European standards. UNHCR is not part of the asylum (international protection) procedure in Luxembourg. The asylum (international protection) procedure in Luxembourg is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Therefore, UNHCR in Luxembourg does not:
- receive nor process applications for international protection;
- receive nor process resettlement applications (to Luxembourg or other countries);
- process applications for voluntary return;
- provide accommodation, social or financial assistance;
- issue refugee documents (including civil/travel documents).
