I need a lawyer and/or an interpreter in my case

During the asylum interview, you may request the assistance of a lawyer the State provides free of charge. There are three ways to do that:

  • In the interview, you can inform the officer of the Migration Department.
  • Before the interview, you can e-mail [email protected] (indicating your ILTU number * ).
  • Before the interview, you can inform the responsible official at your asylum-seeker accommodation centre that you want a lawyer for the asylum interview.

If you want to appeal a decision rejecting your asylum application, you can request the assistance of a lawyer the State provides free of charge. There are three ways to do that:

  • You can tell the officer of the Migration Department, who will inform you of the decision.
  • You can send an e-mail to [email protected] (indicating your ILTU number * ).
  • You can inform the responsible official at your asylum-seeker accommodation centre that you want a lawyer to appeal the decision.

* The ILTU number is a number that may appear on documents issued by the Lithuanian authorities in your asylum case; if you need help to identify your ILTU number, ask for help from the staff of your accommodation centre.

You can also contact the Lithuanian Red Cross, which may be able to provide legal counselling in your case.

During the asylum procedure, if you need an interpreter, the Migration Department should provide you with an interpreter.
