Suspension of New Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that, based on a government decision, the registration of asylum seekers in Jordan has been suspended since January 23, 2019. The decision remains in force to date and any updates or changes to this decision will be officially communicated through UNHCR\u2019s channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closure of Irbid and Mafraq Registration centres and Centralization of Services<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of July 2025, the UNHCR registration offices in Irbid and Mafraq governorates have closed. UNHCR has centralized the urban registration services at UNHCR Amman Registration centre (Khalda).<\/a> Please note services in the camps ( Zaatari and Azraq) remain the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Status of Syrian refugee files after their return to Syria<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a Syrian refugee leaves Jordan and returns to Syria, their file with UNHCR will be closed. If they return to Jordan with an MOI exit and re-entry permit, the individual can contact the UNHCR Help Line and request a file re-opening appointment.  If the individual return to Jordan without an MOI exit and re-entry permit, the individual will not be able to submit a file re-opening request with UNHCR. This is why UNHCR continues to advise refugees to take the time they need to make an informed decision before their return to Syria. Please note that the renewal procedures continue as normal for Syrians who have not returned to Syria and remain in Jordan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Status of non-Syrian refugee files after departure from Jordan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that travelling outside Jordan, including returning to your country of origin, can impact your asylum status in Jordan and can lead to file closure with UNHCR , unless you hold a valid Ministry of Interior (MOI) exit and re-entry permit. Reopening requests will be considered on exceptional basis. UNHCR strongly encourages refugees to take the time they need and ensure they have all information before making a decision to travel, especially if the travel is to their country of origin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
