Why is UNHCR providing this compensation?
UNHCR is urging all refugees in Jordan to receive their COVID-19 vaccine, to protect themselves from serious illness and limit the spread of the virus. Knowing that the vaccines are being administered by the Jordanian Ministry of Health and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, UNHCR is supporting the national efforts by providing refugees with mobile vaccination units at the UNHCR Registration Centres in Amman, Irbid and Mafraq, as well as in Azraq and Zaatari Camps.
UNHCR is providing a compensation to all out of camps (urban) refugees who received their two doses of the vaccine, to compensate for the cost of transport to and from any given vaccination point.
If I received the two doses of the vaccine, will I receive the amount?
Yes. UNHCR is coordinating with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management to extract the data of individuals who received the vaccine and provide this incentive to them. UNHCR will communicate by SMS to all eligible individuals once the compensation is uploaded and ready for withdrawal from Cairo Amman Bank or their mobile wallets. Please do not approach the bank or Umniah shops until you receive a notification SMS from UNHCR. UNHCR can only provide this compensation to registered refugees in urban (i.e. outside of camps).
We are a family size of X, and only 2 of us received the vaccine. Will we all receive this compensation?
No. UNHCR is providing this compensation to:
- Active individuals on the file, registered with UNHCR (asylum seeker or refugee)
- Individuals that are 12 years of age of older
- Individuals that are vaccinated
If your family size is X, every family member received the vaccine, then each family member will receive the compensation. If your family size is X, and a number of them only received the vaccine, only the vaccinated individuals will receive the compensation. The compensation will be paid at the household level to the principal applicant or designated cash collector.
I am fully vaccinated. How can I find out if I will receive the compensation?
UNHCR is coordinating with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management to extract the data of individuals who received the vaccine and provide this incentive to them. If you are fully vaccinated (2 doses), and haven’t received an SMS from UNHCR, please click here to update your vaccination status on your file. Also, if you changed your phone number recently, please call the UNHCR Helpline as soon as possible to update your information to allow us to get in touch with you. You can update your phone number through the Interactive Voice Response, without the need to speak to an agent, by selecting the ‘contact change option’ from the menu.
When will the compensation be distributed?
This incentive will be distributed starting in December 2021, in a staggered approach – meaning on different batches – to prevent crowding at ATMs and banks, and to protect you from any risks. Please do not approach the bank until you receive a notification SMS from UNHCR.
If you receive your vaccine doses after December, please note that UNHCR will be uploading the upcoming batches of assistance throughout January 2022
How will the compensation be distributed?
This compensation will be uploaded to your virtual account at the Cairo Amman Bank, or your mobile wallet (if you have one). You can withdraw this amount as per the standard method you’re used to: iris scan, or ATM card, or through mobile wallet
Will I receive the compensation alone, or along with other assistances?
If you are receiving a monthly cash assistance, or a winter cash assistance, or a COVID-19 emergency assistance: UNHCR will upload this compensation along with the assistance you receive, on one go.
If you are not receiving any type of cash assistance from UNHCR: UNHCR will upload this compensation separately and alert you via SMS when it is ready to withdraw
