Basic needs assistance for April and May are uploaded together to extend the withdrawal period, which can help reducing crowds at the ATM and to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Basic needs assistance provided by UNHCR is given only to the most vulnerable and poorest of families. The eligibility formula takes into consideration different elements while calculating the priorities such as family size, disabilities in the family (if any), and many other considerations. The vulnerabilities are considered differently – for example a widowed woman might have a higher priority than a married woman even if the husband is not in Jordan.
Will beneficiaries receive assistance in May 2021?
There will be no assistance uploaded throughout the month of May. The distribution will resume in June 2021. Therefore, we advise you to plan for this when spending the assistance as it should cover both April and May.
Why am I receiving a higher amount of assistance from UNHCR for the month of April?
UNHCR is providing the assistance of two months (April and May) at once. The additional amount you will find is the basic needs assistance for the month of May. It is not an additional amount of assistance, neither COVID-19 emergency or Ramadan-related. Beneficiaries will not receive assistance in the month of May. Why will the beneficiaries who were identified for cancelation in May receive only the April assistance?
Beneficiaries who were identified not eligible and who were informed that they will receive their last assistance in April will receive both months (April & May) assistance in April. The cancellation will take place in June. These beneficiaries will not receive assistance starting in June.
