{"id":3886,"date":"2026-04-16T09:20:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T09:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/iran\/?p=3886"},"modified":"2026-04-16T10:01:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T10:01:33","slug":"announcement-on-universal-public-health-insurance-uphi-12th-cycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/iran\/en\/2026\/04\/16\/announcement-on-universal-public-health-insurance-uphi-12th-cycle\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcement on Universal Public Health Insurance (UPHI 12th Cycle)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The new 12<sup>th<\/sup> Cycle of UPHI scheme has started countrywide (from 25 February 2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>and the scheme is open and accessible to all <em>Amayesh<\/em>, <em>Hoviat<\/em> or Valid Laissez-Passer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Vulnerable:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vulnerable refugees holding a Amayesh, Hoviat or valid Laissez-Passer (including refugees with Special Diseases &#8211; such as Haemophilia, Thalassemia, Renal Failure, Kidney Transplant and Multiple Sclerosis [MS]), similar to previous cycles, can approach <em>Pishkhan<\/em> centers <a>contracted with <\/a>Iran Health Insurance Organization (IHIO) countrywide and enroll in the free-of-charge health insurance coverage from 25 February 2026 \u2013 24 February 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Premium payers:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per previous cycles, other refugees who are holding Amayesh, Hoviat and valid Laissez-Passer can also approach <em>Pishkhan<\/em> centres contracted with IHIO countrywide and by paying the ratified premium fee, enroll in the UPHI scheme and receive health insurance coverage with duration of 12-months from the date of enrolment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important points regarding registration:<\/strong><strong><u><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To know if you fall under vulnerable or premium payer category,<strong> <\/strong>please approach your nearest <em>Pishkhan<\/em> centers contracted with IHIO countrywide or call contact No. 1666 (IHIO\u2019s dedicated operator for UPHI) and check your vulnerability status and your access to the scheme. Enrollment in the scheme takes place at Pishkhan Centers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refugees holding a Amayesh, Hoviat or valid Laissez-Passer, in order to enroll in the scheme, please ensure to bring your residential documents and those of your family members and provide it to the authorities of Pishkhan Centers contracted with IHIO to facilitate their registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All refugees should ensure pre-registration is conducted before enrolment in Pishkhan centers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refugees who have enrolled in UPHI scheme, can always find out the status of their insurance coverage and its validity period by dialing the code *1666#.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By enrolling in this UPHI scheme you can benefit from a 12-months health insurance coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All diagnostic and treatment services for refugees are covered in all hospitals contracted with IHIO countrywide, according to the primary health care package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All refugees who have enrolled in Universal Public Health Insurance scheme can receive medical services through online prescription services by providing their Identity Cards (valid Amayesh\/Hoviat\/valid Laissez-Passer) and shall be referred to medical centers, who will verify access to UPHI in the system.
