UNHCR Innovation Award 2022

This year UNHCR is launching the Innovation Award to celebrate the efforts and accomplishment of non-governmental organizations developing innovative approaches for protection and delivery of services to refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR.

For the year 2022, UNHCR will focus on women-led organizations working with or supporting refugees and meet the following criteria.

  1. Women-led organizations led by refugees, internally displaced persons, stateless or other persons of concern to UNHCR (with leadership, management, and staffing formed by a majority of these groups).
  2. Other community-based women-led organizations supporting or working in partnership with refugees, refugee networks, or other structures that support refugees*, their activities, and/or their community.

There will be at least one winner from the Asia region, and this winner will receive $15,000 to help support their innovative work on gender equity.

Winners will be selected on the following criteria: 1) the understanding and clarity of the challenge, 2) the novelty of the solution3) the inclusion of women and/or girls in designing the solution, and 4) the achieved impact or intended impact of the project.
