In Ecuador, the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, and Technology is responsible for recognizing university degrees obtained from educational institutions outside the country.
Before beginning this process, keep in mind that the degrees that can be legalized are:
✅ Technical and Technological Higher Education Degrees (Tercer Nivel Técnico Tecnológico)
✅ Undergraduate Degrees (Tercer Nivel de Grado)
✅ Postgraduate Degrees (Cuarto Nivel)
✅ Doctoral Degrees (PhD)
Degrees that cannot be recognized are:
❌ Degrees from higher education institutions that are not accredited by the competent higher education authority in the country of origin
❌ Continuing education studies (diplomas, open courses, among others)
❌ Studies completed in Ecuador without an approved and supervised agreement by CES
❌ Degrees that are not considered higher education degrees
❌ When the studies are not comparable to Ecuadorian academic levels
