Hospitals in China are open to refugees and asylum-seekers. You do not need a referral to see a specialist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#faeb00\"><strong>In case of medical emergencies, please go to the Emergency Ward at your nearest public hospital or call<\/strong> <strong>120 for an ambulance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can UNHCR help me with healthcare?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UNHCR will determine if it can support <strong>refugees<\/strong>\u2018 treatment on a case-by-case basis, subject to budget availability. Due to budget limitations, UNHCR focuses on treatments that save lives or stop diseases from becoming deadly or leading to disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNHCR does not provide reimbursement for:<br>&#8211; Mild diseases or vague symptoms, such as headache, body weakness, diarrhea, constipation, joint pain, or common cold, if you are a healthy adult;<br>&#8211; Late stages of diseases, where it&#8217;s hard to survive, like late-stage cancer;<br>&#8211; Cosmetic procedures, like scar removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to limited resources, UNHCR China regrets that it cannot cover medical treatments for <strong>asylum- seekers<\/strong>. Depending on your condition, the hospital might provide free drugs to you. Write to <a href=\"mailto:chibemed@unhcr.org\">chibemed@unhcr.org<\/a> if you have difficulty communicating with your doctor in Chinese and need us to help.
