{"id":989,"date":"2024-05-31T09:35:37","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T09:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/bulgaria\/?page_id=989"},"modified":"2025-03-26T10:29:35","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T10:29:35","slug":"information-for-ukrainian-nationals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/bulgaria\/information-for-ukrainian-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrival from Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Entry in Bulgaria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You will be allowed entry in Bulgaria if you have one of the following documents:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biometric passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-biometric passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Driving license<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ID card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birth certificate (children below 14 years old)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a temporary measure in view of the current situation in Ukraine, you may also enter with an expired passport. If you do not have any documents, you may be allowed entry on humanitarian grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can enter using your personal car, with or without international insurance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can enter with your pets. If they do not have the necessary documents, a simplified procedure is applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Staying in Bulgaria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon entering Bulgaria, all people from Ukraine have the right to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Apply for temporary protection<\/strong> \u2013 this is an exceptional measure introduced by the EU for people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. The duration of temporary protection is one year and can be renewed. The temporary protection provides an opportunity to:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be provided with free shelter and food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access health care, education and social assistance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access the labor market;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>start your own business;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>return home at any time and travel freely within the EU under certain conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find out more at <a href=\"https:\/\/ukraine.gov.bg\/ua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ukraine.gov.bg\/ua\/<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/eu-solidarity-ukraine.ec.europa.eu\/information-people-fleeing-war-ukraine_uk\">https:\/\/eu-solidarity-ukraine.ec.europa.eu\/information-people-fleeing-war-ukraine_uk <\/a> or at the border checkpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Apply for international protection<\/strong>, which includes granting refugee or humanitarian status. You can apply for International Protection once your Temporary Protection status expires.
