Paraná Law guarantees exemption of revalidation rate of diploma for refugees

The State Law n. 19,830, published in the Official Gazette of Paraná, on March 28, 2019, guarantees the exemption
the payment of revalidation fees for undergraduate, postgraduate, master’s, doctorate and postdoctoral degrees to vulnerable migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and stateless persons in the State of Paraná.

The exemption from fees is based on Article 22 of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. The Convention was ratified by Brazil in 1961.

The new law of Paraná is part of the constitutional foundation of the dignity of the human person, and besides the humanitarian aspect of the proposal, experts point out that the implementation of public policies of integration with refugees has the capacity to add intellectual capital and ideas to the places where these citizens settle.
