How to approach the UNHCR Office?

You can reach UNHCR Office through the following channels, 5 days a week Sunday through Thursday only from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm only. In case you cannot reach someone at the office, please check this website if the timing to contact the office has changed.

Note: Currently, the UNHCR premise is in the Diplomatic Quarter (DQ) in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The UNHCR Office in KSA covers Bahrain as there is no UNHCR Office in Bahrain. If you are scheduled for an appointment, you will be asked to approach the main UN building in Bahrain. The appointment will be conducted either virtually via internet or in person by a visiting UNHCR staff member to Bahrain. As UNHCR has no office in the main UN building, please do not approach the UN premises as you will not be allowed to enter or speak to anyone without a prior appointment.

Due to the high volume of emails and calls, we acknowledge that sometimes it is hard to get through to the UNHCR Office via phone or email. UNHCR aims to respond to all queries. We do apologize in advance for any delay in responding to your application. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

As the preferred mode of contact, we encourage you to send an email stating the following:

  • Your full name
  • If you are registered with UNHCR, please state your UNHCR registration number
  • Where are you from (country and city)
  • Currently which city do you live in (country and city)
  • Are you willing to return to your country of origin? If your answer is yes or no, please explain your answer.
  • Describe your current situation in Bahrain. Please elaborate on your answer while stating your legal status in the country (Iqama or visitor visa or other), in addition to living condition.
  • What are you expecting from the UNHCR Office?
  • Please state your contact number or the best way to reach you

You will receive a system generated message acknowledging receipt of your email. Due to the limited Office capacity, we will not be able to respond to everyone. As appropriate, we will respond to your query by an email, call, or SMS message. We apologize in advance if the Office does not contact you or if you receive a delayed response.
