{"id":221,"date":"2020-07-01T14:26:14","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T14:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/armenia\/?page_id=221"},"modified":"2025-09-11T10:21:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T10:21:06","slug":"assistance-for-refugees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.unhcr.org\/armenia\/assistance-for-refugees\/","title":{"rendered":"Assistance and materials for refugees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>State agencies and non-governmental organizations within the framework of their competencies provide assistance to refugees on various issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assistance in providing accommodation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial support,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Legal aid,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psychological support,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social assistance,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical care,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assistance in educational issues,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assistance in social allowance, employment and pension issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assistance in providing accommodation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The State is not obliged to provide accommodation to persons recognized as refugees. The state also has dormitories and social houses, and you can be provided with a room in one of them, if free rooms are available. RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MLSA) is the responsible state body allocating accommodation in Dormitories and Social Houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medical care<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have some health problems, you can apply to your district policlinic, where you will receive free ambulatory medical assistance. You will also be provided with free emergency assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Educational assistance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Institutions of general education will help your child on the issues related to his\/her school attendance free of charge. As regards to higher education, you should apply to the preferred higher education institution to get education in the department of your choice, similarly to Armenian citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social assistance and employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to receive social assistance and &nbsp;employment support, you can apply to the territorial centers of Unified Social Service (USS) operating under MLSA which offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consultations and information on the provided social and employment services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free of charge assistance to find job;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in employment projects and events;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vocational trainings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find the information on list and addresses of USS territorial centers as well as provided services in the following link of USS website (<a href=\"https:\/\/socservice.am\/\">https:\/\/socservice.am\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Legal aid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Asylum-seekers and refugees are provided free legal aid free of charge in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia \u201cOn Advocacy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of the Public Defender of RA Chamber of Advocates provides free legal aid to vulnerable groups prescribed by the law. Asylum-seekers and refugees are included as a separate group entitled to free legal aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, you can apply the Office of the Human Rights Defender for legal counselling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Useful materials for asylum-seekers and refugees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In this section, you can access handbooks, brochures, booklets, leaflets and other materials related to issues faced by refugees, asylum-seekers, persons in a refugee-like situation and stateless persons, grouped by topics and audiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3
