If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, abuse, or neglect \u2014 whether you are an adult or a child \u2014 please know that help is available, and you are not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are you concerned for your safety or the welfare of a child?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are concerned about your own welfare and safety or the welfare of a child, you can contact our UNHCR team for help and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some reasons why you might contact us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You have experienced <strong>violence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are concerned that a child is being abused or exploited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have been asked to marry someone against your will.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are afraid that a child is being married against their will.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are experiencing threats, harassment, or humiliation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are concerned about a child who is being asked to perform hazardous work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are concerned about a child who does not have a parent or other relative taking care of them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have been prevented from receiving an inheritance, or your earnings were forcibly taken by a family member.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is violence?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Violence&nbsp;comprises harmful acts \u2013 such as the use of physical force or power &#8211; that are perpetrated against a person\u2019s will. The threat of such harmful acts is also considered violence. Violence may result in injury, death, or psychological harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Violence can occur anywhere at any time, in public or in private settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can take many forms, such as\u00a0<strong>physical violence, emotional or psychological violence or economic violence. <\/strong>Economic violence may include situations such as not allowing or forcing others to work, taking away their income or depriving them of their inheritance<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although many survivors of violence are girls and women,<strong> boys and men can also be targeted through violence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not your fault. If you\u2019ve experienced violence or abuse, you deserve support and care.
